To help you master jewellery craft and find your own path, there is a three-month preparation course for those who have no previous experience. During this time, you can learn how to solder, engrave, chisel, forge, work with metal, fix stones and create complex chains, rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets. You will also learn drawing, sculpture and composition. It will allow you to overcome fear or lack of confidence when beginning to take up a new interest or hobby. You will get a clear idea of the jeweller’s job and it will help you decide how you want to proceed with further training.

After completing the first steps in the preparation course and the decision to go further into the world of jewellery, the advanced learning of each study subject begins. Great attention is paid to melting of precious metal and using it to make jewellery. The apprentices learn how to make solder for different metals, such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, steel, brass, copper or aluminium.

Apart from the technical subjects, the course covers creative and artistic development. There are such classes as idea generation, which broaden the horizons of the mind and help see things from another point of view. Technique is only a way of expression.

Theory classes are taught in parallel with practical work. This way the subject is attained easier and does not remain just a note in a workbook. In their first year the students are gradually familiarised with jeweller’s tools and learn how make some of the tools themselves.

The students also learn about precious stones and how to work with them. Stone fixing techniques are mastered. After completing the training, an apprentice will be able to create a design and make a final product without any help from the master.

After completing the course the participants will have:

mastered soldering, engraving, chiseling, forging, enamelling and metal plastic;

gained practical experience in embedding stones, making intricate chains, rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets;

able to make the necessary individual work tools;

learned the basics of drawing, composition, modeling and the application, and integration of different styles;

practiced skills to work with different metals - silver, gold, brass, copper;

obtained a certificate of completion of the course, a certificate of the Baltic Jewelers' Association.

 

Fee per month (with studying 5 days per week) is 1000€ 

 

Courses are held in Limbaži (Burtnieku street 4, Burtnieku square).
